Zerach Yisroel HaKohen
Zerach Yisroel HaKohen
As the founder and director of the KOTU Centre, in the heart of Jerusalem, Israel, the remarkable KOTU Centre, served as a cherished home where thousands of guests from the local community and around the world gathered to share in the warmth of Shabbat and Holiday meals since 2012. The name "KOTU" holds a profound meaning, standing as an acronym for "King Of The Universe," the English translation of the Hebrew words "מלך העולם" (Melech HaOlam). This title stemmed from the remarkable success of the "Melech HaOlam" project, a pivotal initiative that played a vital role in bringing the long-awaited rains back to the land of Israel after a 30-year drought. It stands as a testament to the potency of rectifying even the most minor correction.
Within the walls of the KOTU Centre, lives became forever intertwined. The magic of its atmosphere sparked connections that led to three couples finding love—each journey beginning at a shared Shabbat table and culminating in marriage. These stories, along with the countless friendships and relationships forged during meals and classes, stand as a testament to the deep bonds nurtured within this special place.
Notably, the KOTU Centre also hosted weekly Sunday night classes, led by the esteemed Reb Meir Elkabas, where participants delved into the profound teachings of Likutei Moharan by Rebbe Nachman. Special events featuring revered scholars like Rabbi Mendel Kessin, Rabbi David Aaron, Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman, and Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi attracted thousands of eager learners, igniting a thirst for knowledge and spiritual growth.
For about a decade, the KOTU Centre was a haven, the place to be in Jerusalem, a vibrant hub of learning, love, and community. Its walls breathed the essence of Jerusalem, and countless souls were enriched by the experiences and connections forged within. However, in 2021, with hearts full of gratitude and memories aplenty, the KOTU Centre was forced to close concluding its extraordinary chapter, leaving behind a legacy of profound impact and unforgettable moments, forever imprinted in the hearts of those it touched. Help support the re-opening of the new KOTU Centre in Jerusalem.
My five stars are well earned!
The KOTU Center brought a lot of people together around the joy of Shabbat. I have a lot of fond memories of those days, like the time that... well, you know... Forget it. You had to be there, and if you want to be there, the KOTU center has to be there first. So support the KOTU center by rating and reviewing, participating, and donating your time and your treasure if requested!
Zerach is an inspiring host. I've enjoyed his Shabbat meals for many years. The classes featured renowned rabbis and were very well organized, recorded for later review, and in a pleasant environment.
The KOTU Centre holds a truly special place in my heart. It was within these walls that my wife and I found each other at Zerach's warm Shabbat table. Attending the classes was an absolute delight, every moment a treasure trove of learning and growth. Zerach's dedication was unwavering, his words of Torah ignited the spirits of thousands who shared in his meals. These gatherings, open to all without exception, provided solace and connection. I recall meals with as many as 30 guests, each one leaving a lasting memory. The absence of the KOTU Centre is deeply felt in Jerusalem, and I earnestly hope for its revival, for it fills a void that yearns to be embraced once more.
Zerach is a respectful ,caring and a very kind-hearted person. Easy to communicate with and very hospitable, during the time I spent at the KOTU center, it was evident the efforts that were put in to always be very mindful of the guests,
I look forward to visiting other events at the KOTU center and I truly wish Zerach all the best!
Enjoyed several gatherings at the KOTU Centre - good food, great company and always an overall pleasant experience. The success of KOTU is attributed to Zerach - Todah Rabah!
