Zerach Yisroel HaKohen
Zerach Yisroel HaKohen
"KOTU" is an acronym for "King Of The Universe," the English translation of the Hebrew phrase "מלך העולם" (Melech HaOlam). This term gained profound significance following the extraordinary success of the Melech HaOlam Project—a prophetic experience that was instrumental in bringing the long-awaited rains back to the land of Israel after a 30-year drought. This project stands as a powerful testament to the transformative impact of making even the smallest corrections in the pronunciation of our blessings.
In 2012, I established my home on Betzalel Street in Nachlaot, Jerusalem, as what came to be known as The KOTU Centre. It quickly became a hub of spiritual connection and community. Every Shabbat, I hosted and prepared meals for up to 25 guests, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. On Sunday nights, I sponsored Torah classes delivered by esteemed rabbis from Israel and around the world. The experiences at The KOTU Centre were nothing short of extraordinary. Don’t just take my word for it—read some of the heartfelt testimonials from those who were part of it.
Within the walls of The KOTU Centre, three couples met at my Shabbat table and later married—a reflection of the unique atmosphere of connection and community that flourished there. Countless miracle stories, along with the many friendships and relationships forged during the meals and classes, stand as a testament to the profound bonds nurtured in this extraordinary space.
The Centre’s weekly Sunday night classes, led by the esteemed Reb Meir Elkabas, offered deep insights into the transformative teachings of Likutei Moharan by Rebbe Nachman of Breslov. In addition, special events featured renowned scholars such as Rabbi Mendel Kessin, Rabbi David Aaron, Rabbi Avraham Arieh Trugman, and Rabbi Yosef Mizrachi. These gatherings drew thousands of eager participants, sparking a passion for knowledge and spiritual growth.
For nearly a decade, The KOTU Centre stood as the go-to destination in Jerusalem—a vibrant hub of learning, love, and community. Its walls embodied the spirit of Jerusalem, serving as a sanctuary where countless souls found inspiration, connection, and personal growth. Entirely self-supported, the Centre thrived until 2021, when unforeseen tragic events brought its journey to a heartfelt pause.
With immense gratitude for the cherished memories and lives touched, the dream remains alive. Join us in supporting the re-opening of a new KOTU Centre in Jerusalem, where its legacy of transformation and unity can continue to flourish.
My five stars are well earned!
The KOTU Center brought a lot of people together around the joy of Shabbat. I have a lot of fond memories of those days, like the time that... well, you know... Forget it. You had to be there, and if you want to be there, the KOTU center has to be there first. So support the KOTU center by rating and reviewing, participating, and donating your time and your treasure if requested!
Zerach is an inspiring host. I've enjoyed his Shabbat meals for many years. The classes featured renowned rabbis and were very well organized, recorded for later review, and in a pleasant environment.
The KOTU Centre holds a truly special place in my heart. It was within these walls that my wife and I found each other at Zerach's warm Shabbat table. Attending the classes was an absolute delight, every moment a treasure trove of learning and growth. Zerach's dedication was unwavering, his words of Torah ignited the spirits of thousands who shared in his meals. These gatherings, open to all without exception, provided solace and connection. I recall meals with as many as 30 guests, each one leaving a lasting memory. The absence of the KOTU Centre is deeply felt in Jerusalem, and I earnestly hope for its revival, for it fills a void that yearns to be embraced once more.
Zerach is a respectful ,caring and a very kind-hearted person. Easy to communicate with and very hospitable, during the time I spent at the KOTU center, it was evident the efforts that were put in to always be very mindful of the guests,
I look forward to visiting other events at the KOTU center and I truly wish Zerach all the best!
